Virtues
Enthusiasm is being inspired - full of spirit. It is being excited about something and looking forward to it. It comes from having a positive attitude. On Monday, October 1st we did "Baseball Math" while watching the Cubs vs. Brewers game. It was a great opportunity to discuss enthusiasm! We also discussed being enthusiastic learners! We want students to be excited to learn!
Here are some questions to discuss with your child:
How do people with and without enthusiasm look, sound, act? (Their faces, their movements, their voices, etc.)
What activities do you do with enthusiasm?
What are you enthusiastic about for the future?
What kinds of work or careers require enthusiasm?
What difference can enthusiasm make if you have a boring job?

Science
This week’s lesson on forces will be about the force of magnetism. Your child will get to spend time observing and discovering some of the basic properties of magnets!
One fun thing you can do together with your child is to explore this printable chart featuring wonderful household uses for magnets (see link below). This reinforces this week’s learning and also models how engineers or inventors think, something we’re doing more frequently in science class.
