January 2018

Is it just me...or did January fly by? Seriously, it feels like just yesterday we were ringing in the New Year and now, we are a few days away from midterm and 2 weeks away from Valentine's Day. Time flies when you're having fun!

What did students do in below to find out.

Thank you,

Mrs. Stevenson and Mrs. Clerkin

What's Your One Word 2018

After hearing about #oneword on Twitter, we decided to do something different for the new year! Instead of thinking of a “resolution” students were challenged to choose a word as a focus and a motivator for the year. They brainstormed, selected and then turned their word into a Buncee art piece.

Kindergarten - 2nd grade students set goals for the New Year and posted them to Seesaw.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

In honor of MLK day, Kindergarten - 2nd grade students watched Martin Luther King, Jr. My First Biography video. Students then logged in to Seesaw to complete an 'I have a Dream' activity where they brainstormed ways they could help make the world a better place.

Students in 3rd and 4th grade watched MLK, The King and his Dream video and used Flipgrid to record their dreams for the world.

What is Flipgrid?

Flipgrid is one of the most amazing tech tools. There are a million ways you can use Flipgrid. We have the opportunity to engage students in opportunities that let their voices be heard and one of our favorite ways to do this is by using Flipgrid.

As the site says, Flipgrid is a video discussion community for your classroom that supercharges your students' voices. You add the topics, your students respond with short videos and everyone engages.

Google Expedition

We also celebrated Martin Luther King, Jr. day with a Google Expedition! Students explored important locations by visiting the Martin Luther King, Jr National Historic Site.

About Us

Our goals are to:

  • Get students excited about the library space and learning.
  • Give students opportunities to work on engaging tasks.
  • Provide spaces to work collaboratively, think critically and creatively.

Also, to transition to a place where students DO stuff, not simply a place where students GET stuff.
