Mayfield High School Weekly Update

August 28, 2022

Welcome Back!

The beginning of the school year is always filled with excitement, and this week did not disappoint. On Thursday, we welcomed the Class of 2026 as they paraded into the school together, met by the marching band, the cheerleading squad, and the high school staff clapping them into the school for the first time. Then on Friday, we welcomed all of our students in grades 10-12 as the senior class officers offered each student a delicious treat.

As we look forward to this week, our students will have their first 5-day school week along with their first late start Wednesday. For late start Wednesdays, students are not expected to arrive at school until their first-period class (8:45 AM). If students cannot arrive later, school transportation will run their typical schedule. As students arrive before 8:30 AM, they will choose to wait in the cafeteria, the wood gym, or the library media center. On Wednesdays, teachers are unavailable for assistance from 7:30 AM - 8:30 AM.

Late Arrival / Early Dismissal

Students in grades 11 and 12 may apply for late arrival or early dismissal if they have a study hall to begin or end their day AND they are in good academic standing. Grades will be reviewed every four weeks. If students earn a D or F in any of their courses, they will no longer have the option of late arrival/early dismissal until their grade(s) improve. Late arrival and early dismissal forms can be found in the Office for Student Affairs.

Students with a "study hall" or "option time" on their schedule other than 1st or 8th period must remain at school. We are not running any form of open campus this year.
