Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in NYC
CHHS Senior Cheerleader, Brenna Currie, and CHHS Pantherette, Emily Leonard, were selected based on their performances to cheer and dance to participate the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. There were 600 dancers and 500 cheerleaders that attended from as far away as Alaska and Florida. Emily and Brenna were the only representatives in Cheer or Dance from CHHS that attended. Temperature at parade time was 34 with a sub freezing wind chill. March was from 81st Street to 34th Street (3 miles) before they performed in front of Macy’s. Thank you, Brenna and Emily, for representing CHHS in NYC!

Panther Wrestling team
The Panther Wrestling team hosted its 1st tournament in over a year, which had
3 top 10 ranked 5A teams. The Panthers placed 5th and missed 4th by just 1 point behind the number 4 ranked team in the state and placed 4 spots ahead of the number 9th ranked team. They did this while only filling 5 of the 14 weight classes. Zackary Harris wrestled in a rough weight class and came up short going 0-2. Ryan Davis started a little slow but finished 3-2, earning 3 pins along the way. Nick Wohlferd lost his opening match to the #5 ranked kid from Prosper but was able to battle back for 4th place earning 1 pin along the way. Evan Atchley avenged a preseason loss to win a Heritage Invite title going 3-0. He improves to 7-2 on the season. Enis Ida also avenged an early season loss going 3-0, earning 3 pins. 2 of them over the #7 and #5 ranked kids in his weight class. Coaches also voted Enis as the most outstanding wrestler of the tournament.
In the girls and JV tournament, Pazelee and Nimbe had their 1st taste of wrestling. Both girls loss to tough wrestlers who have qualified for state. The JV boys had several placers. Placing 4th were Jake, JR, and Ethan while Jarrod placed 3rd.
The next time to see the Panthers wrestle will both be in Carrollton on Thursday-Saturday. Thursday will be at Newman Smith and Friday and Saturday will be at RL Turner.
This was a very good tournament for our wrestlers. Our boys and girls wrestled tough and competed really hard. There are still things we need to improve on but it was good to see our guys avenge early season losses. I still think we need to be more aggressive and physical but I have seen improvement. It was a good day as we are heading in the right direction but it wasn't good enough. On the girls side we have some growing to do. The girls were not happy with their performance which is good to see. This tournament may have lit a fire. It was also good seeing our JV have some success. With that being said it's time to get back to work"
CHHS Debate Team
This past weekend found the debate team competing at two different venues. At the University of Texas Longhorn Classic in Austin, Ali & Watson finished in the top 16 teams out of 114 teams in Public Forum debate. Will was also named the top speaker in that division.
At the Creekview tournament, Arsh Ladhani and Itbaan Nafi finished in the quarterfinals in the Lincoln Douglas division. This finish now qualifies Arsh for the Texas Forensic Association state tournament. In Novice CX debate, the team of Shahina Chatur and Nida Ali finished in the semifinals; the team of Illiyan Bardai and Alishan Rehman finished 2nd in that division. In Novice LD debate, Amaan Babul finished as a quarterfinalist. We had several speaker awards as well, including Shahina as 2nd speaker and Nida as 4th speaker in their division.
