Teacher Appreciation Week May 2-6

It's time to show your child's teachers how important and appreciated they are! We encourage all students and parents to write thank you notes for teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week. Thank you for helping us shower our teachers with care and support!

Parent Town Hall

Join us May 4 at 6:00pm for a Virtual Parent Town Hall. We will share information about EOGs, the Bond Initiative, and Summer School and answer questions that you may have. Use the link on the website to join!

Device Collection

Students will turn their Chromebooks and chargers into their Core 1 teacher on May 11. Devices not returned will be deactivated. Please encourage your student to look for any devices or chargers they may have at home!

No-Cost School Meals

The federal waivers that allowed all schools to serve free breakfast and lunch to all students are ending this summer. To ensure that students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals are able to receive those meals on the first day of school, we are asking parents to fill out the application at www.lunchapplication.com or get a paper form from the front office. This will establish a family’s qualifications for meal discounts for the first 30 days of the 2022-23 school year.

A new application must be completed after July 1 for the remainder of the school year.

Personal Technology and End of Grade Tests

EOGs begin on May 26! Please remind your students that per state policies, phones and smart watches are not permitted during testing. Having a smart watch or phone during the tests may result in students having to re-take EOGs.

8th Grade End of Year Events

Cap and Gown Photos will occur on May 6th. See the website for all the details.

Graduation ceremonies will be held in person this year! Your student will receive their invitation this week. There will be two ceremonies, so please be sure to check the invitation for your student's date!

Volunteer Opportunities

Roar Store Donations

Please help us reward students who are consistently on time to class and meet school-wide expectations by supplying our Roar Store! Every morning, students who have earned Den Dollars for their positive behaviors can shop in the Roar Store. Single-serve bags of Takis, chips, and Hot Cheetos, and Gatorade are especially popular! We would also love Sonic or Wendy's gift cards to use for providing special rewards. Contact Dr. Bocci if you have questions at boccim@gcsnc.com.
