Kindergarten and First Grade Guidance Lessons!
Students learned about the difference between a small problem (problem you can solve on your own) and big problem (problem you need help from a grown up to solve). Students were introduced to Kelso's Wheel--nine different problem solving strategies that kids can use to solve their problem. Ask your student about Kelso's wheel!
Students dived deeper into the Kelso's choice "talk it out" and learned how to use their words to solve a problem. The strategy we teach is called "A Bug and A Wish". This is an introduction to using an "I Feel" Message. Students practiced saying "It bugs me when you________ and I wish you would__________". Please ask your student to teach you how to use a Bug and a Wish, its a great strategy to use in the home as well!
