Inquiring Minds
Sprague School shared a video of inquiry-based learning activities in their classrooms at a recent D103 Board of Education meeting. Principal Ann Hofmeier shared about various lessons, student impact, and how inquiry-based learning empowers students to become active learners, critical thinkers, problem-solvers, and lifelong learners preparing them to navigate an ever-changing world.

- Book Study: Sign up by Wednesday, Dec. 20, for an in-person or virtual book study on "Belonging" by Geoffrey Cohen.
- Pajama Drive: Donate new pajamas through Thursday, Dec. 20.
- Teacher Conference Survey: Let us know by Thursday, Dec. 21, what you thought of the recent conferences.
- Winter Break: Friday, Dec. 22, through Monday, Jan. 8. Students return to school Tuesday, Jan. 9.
- Early Childhood Interest Form: Deadline is Sunday, Dec. 31.
- BSA Registration: Sign up now as there are only a few remaining spots for after school activity classes.
- MAPS Night: First-grade parents sign up now.

Mark Your Calendar for Some Sunshine
If your child is planning to participate, this is a great opportunity to help our young Wildcats share in the responsibility of remembering these fun events. You might consider having your child/children mark the calendar with your help or use a device to set an alarm or calendar reminder for the night before or day of:
- Monday, Dec. 18: Dress like a favorite character from a book/movie/tv show!
- Tuesday Dec. 19: Hobby Day - Dress to represent a favorite hobby!
- Wednesday Dec. 20: Holiday day! Dress to represent any holiday you enjoy!
- Thursday Dec. 21: Pajama Stuffy Day! Dress in your comfies!

Please check the abandoned items in the Google Lost and Found folder to see if any of these items belong to your child. Unclaimed items will be donated after school on Thursday, Dec. 21.

- Classes are $25 total per class. Some classes may have a materials fee.
- Classes are six weeks and begin the week of January 8.
Early Childhood Interest Form
Share the News with Your Neighbors & Friends with Preschoolers
Lincolnshire-Prairie View School District 103 is excited to offer an extended day option for our Early Childhood Blended program next year! Limited spaces will be available. Families of preschoolers are invited to fill out the Early Childhood Interest Form to place their child in a lottery for the extended day program. We will continue to offer half day early childhood classroom options as well. Please consider enrolling your child in their home elementary school program.

Winter Carnival
The Sprague Winter Carnival is coming, and we need your help to make this another successful year! We are planning an exciting winter wonderland full of games and crafts. The event will be held at Sprague School during school hours on Thursday, Dec. 21, and is limited to students and carnival volunteers. PTO will provide all the games, supplies and directions for the activities you are signing up for. Volunteers do not need to buy or prepare anything in advance.
This popular annual event is rapidly approaching, and we are looking for parent volunteers to share in the fun! Sign up on Membership Toolkit to help us make this event successful!

Pajama Drive
Sprague school will once again hold a pajama drive between December 6-20. CASA Lake County exists to promote and protect the best interest of children who have been abused or neglected, by training volunteers to advocate for them in courts, in schools and in our community to help them find safe, permanent and loving homes where they can thrive. Please help us support CASA by placing new pajamas in our collection bin in the Sprague front hallway!

Stay and Play
The Stay & Play PTO sponsored event has been moved to 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20. Formerly called Movie Night, this drop off event will offer several fun activities for Sprague K-2 students. Registration and volunteer forms forthcoming.

Calling for Volunteer Leads: Run for D103 5k Needs Your Leadership!
In preparation for the upcoming Run for D103 5k, the organizing committee is actively seeking dedicated individuals to take on crucial roles in the Volunteers and Sponsorship sub-committees. This annual event, which brings together the community for a morning of fitness and fun, relies on the support of passionate volunteers to ensure its success.

Blood Drive
Versiti Blood Center of Illinois is sponsoring a community blood drive on Saturday, Dec. 16, in memory of Jordan who passed away from acute myeloid leukemia.
Brad's Bookworms
Congressman Brad Schneider will invite D103 students who read 10 books to a recognitions ceremony in early 2024 to celebrate their achievement! Visit Brad's Bookworms to learn more about the project. The deadline to participate is Tuesday, Jan. 2.
Orchestra Auditions
The Chicago Youth Orchestra is accepting auditions for ages 7-18 years-old. Clinics are also available.
