King Communication
November & December 2019
Principal Talk
King Community,
Happy Holidays! We are excited to enter this very busy, but fun time of year with your children. Thanksgiving is a most wonderful time of year with many examples of kindness and gratitude being displayed. Our student council will once again participate in the Care and Share Harvest of Love event. Please be sure to bring in your canned goods! There are great opportunities for our students to learn about service, community and generosity during November and December.
As shared in previous newsletters, our staff is working hard to implement the Capturing Kids’ Hearts program in an effort to connect with every student in our school. One aspect of CKH is having students rate themselves and the class with how they are doing following the Social Contract. Often teachers will discuss with their class a word from their Social Contract they need to work on, such as cooperation. The class will reflect on how they did with cooperation throughout the day, which leads to great discussions about how they are being successful and how they can improve.
A friendly reminder to please pay careful attention while in the school parking lot. There is much activity going on and being distracted by a cell phone can be dangerous. We also ask that you please watch your speed in and around the neighborhood streets, as well as, use only the entrance into the school parking lot. We very much appreciate your help in keeping our King community safe.
Once again, I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season as we lead in to the New Year! The months of November and December are busy ones at King Elementary. Please check out the rest of the newsletter for school information including upcoming events. There are concerts, Game Night, Muffins in the Morning, just to name a few. PTA will also be sponsoring a Giving Market, which will look a little different than the Holiday Shop in the years past. The Giving Market will be Dec. 9-13. Look for more information in the coming weeks.
