Second Step Home Link-January 2019
Emotion Management, continued
During the months of December and January our Elementary Second Step lessons continue to focus on emotion management. Teachers will also be taking time to review with students the skills learned so far this year.
Students will learn about how calming down emotions that are getting out of control helps you think clearly. Students will be given time to practice noticing their own feelings by paying attention to clues in their bodies and identifying situations in which they might need to calm down. Teachers will be helping students anticipate times during the day when they might need to use their Second Step skills to calm down:
· Stop—Use your signal
· Name your feeling
· Calm down: Breathe, count, use positive self-talk
