Grandparent's Day
Greenfield Elementary School cordially invites you to join us for Grandparent’s Day on Friday, September 6, 2019. Our students are excited to have their grandparents visit Greenfield! If you plan to eat lunch with your student on Friday, the cost of the meal is $3.25 per adult and $2.90 for children. Students certainly can use their lunch account, but for their lunches only. Please do not send money ahead of time for lunch, just bring it with you on Friday -- small bills work best. It is certainly permissible to bring outside food as well, such as fast food. Please see our Tips and Tricks below to help your lunchtime go smoothly.
The lunch times listed below have a slight adjustment to the normal schedule. Please see below for your student’s lunch time. Our library will be open and available for you to browse through the Fall Book Fair during your visit to campus. Please remember if our lot is full there is additional parking in the ACES and Technology Services lots off Greenfield Road. Upon entering our building from the front office, please see our host table for a Grandparent’s Badge and head toward the cafeteria. You will be shown to your student’s classroom or the cafeteria.

Tips and Tricks
Friday, September 6th, is Grandparent's Day at the Swamp. This exciting day brings hundreds of visitors to Greenfield so we thought we would send out a list of tips as well as the times for each lunch (different from regular lunch) so that both students and grandparents alike have a wonderful experience. Please note, students without a grandparent available for this day are welcome to have a parent or other adult family member join them instead.
Tips for Grandparents Day
1. Opt for cold lunch choices if possible. Lunchtime is busy at fast food places any day, but we have heard in past years that people waited over a half an hour for orders to be filled! If you are not choosing to order school lunch using the form provided, you may want to skip the nearby restaurants.
2. Poinciana Road has been changed by the Town to a NO PARKING ZONE. While we have opened this gate in the past, we don’t want anyone to be ticketed by GPD, and so we are encouraging folks to NOT park on this street for this day. This back gate will remain locked. We will have some parking in our lot, and there will be quite a few spots in the lot off Greenfield Road, (which was formally the GCA student lot), and there are occasionally empty spots surrounding the school. While we have several handicapped spots, we have no way of guaranteeing that they will be open when needed. However, we have seen lots of success with families that are able to drop off and then pick up grandparents, or choose to walk from the neighborhood instead of requiring driving in.
3. Bring a book and pack your patience! :) If you would like to arrive early, we will have chairs set up so you can sit and wait until your grandchild's lunchtime. Also, because there is potential for backups in the cafeteria, lunchtimes may be delayed a bit so that each grade level has the opportunity to eat and enjoy each other. A book or magazine will help this time go by a bit faster.
4. Shopping opportunities await! Visit our huge Scholastic book fair with your grandchild if you would like to see all the goodies inside. Proceeds support our school in many ways!
5. Friday is Green Day at the Swamp. Many of our staff and students will be dressed in Gator Green. Please join us as part of the Gator Family!
6. No child may be signed out without being on the IC emergency contacts list. For purposes of this event, if your child’s grandparent will be checking them out for the day, an email to jennifer.paulson@gilbertschools.net from your registered email will suffice.
