Hello Jackson Families!

Plano ISD announced yesterday that the District is prepared to pilot a Virtual Academy for students in grades K-6 pending full legislative approval, staffing needs of the district, financial feasibility and other relevant considerations.

All students in grades K-6 who meet the enrollment criteria are invited to apply!

  • Opens - Thursday, September 2nd
  • Closes - 12:00 noon on Sunday, September 5.
  • All Applications MUST be received by 12:00 noon on Sunday, September 5, 2021.
  • Limited enrollment for each grade level.
  • Enrolling in the Virtual Academy is a transfer from the home campus.
  • Pending the full passage and funding of virtual learning from the State of Texas and TEA, Virtual Academy will begin on Monday, September 13, 2021. This will allow the District time to determine parent interest, identify staff, and prepare curriculum for this program.

In the event that plans for the Virtual Academy have to be cancelled, students will resume enrollment at their home campus. For more information and enrollment criteria, please visit the Virtual Academy Program website.

Just a reminder that Monday, September 6, and Tuesday, September 7, are student holidays and the school will be closed. We hope all of our Jackson families enjoy the long Labor Day weekend!

Thanks,

Kamili Carthledge, Assistant Principal

Counselor's Corner

Hi Jackson Jaguars!

We are excited to announce that we will begin our 2021-2022 Jaguar of the Month Program on September 1. For new families, Jaguar of the Month is a student reward program (students grades K-5 only) that incorporates character traits from the website/program Character First Education.

Each month a new trait will be announced on JagTube. Throughout the month, teachers will reinforce this character trait in their Face-to-Face and Virtual classrooms and look for students that demonstrate the trait consistently throughout the month. Each teacher will select a student from their class to be recognized for for their efforts. Below are a few of the ways that nominated students will be celebrated.

  • Winners will be announced on JagTube.
  • Student will receive a certificate (digital for virtual), keychain, and a Jackson Jaguar pencil.
  • Names will be displayed on the bulletin board near the front office.
  • Jaguars of the Month will attend a breakfast in the school library with Mrs. Roach, our Principal.

The character trait for September is Self-Control. Parents will receive information on the trait so they can work with their students at home. We look forward to watching our students build on their character traits!

Thank you,

Andrea Hall, Counselor

Michelle Hardy, Counselor
