Moorhead Faculty Weekly News
August 3, 2020
Email Attachments
I have attached our staff development calendar and accompanying information regarding the period from August 3rd through August 12th.
I have also attached STOIC/CHAMPS forms that you need to print out for our training on Friday August 7.
I have also attached a copy of the reopening protocols as they will be implemented when students return to campus on Sept. 8th. It is a good idea to get acquainted with these procedures now so you will know them by heart when the kids do return.
Finally, I have attached our attendance protocol flowchart and the CISD nine week progress report, report card, and eligibility dates.

Please Be Sure You are Wearing a Mask!
Please make sure that you are wearing a mask when you are in hallways, in other common areas, or when you are in close proximity to others.
TEA Changed the rules this week concerning staff quarantine. The rule was that as long as one was wearing a mask they didn't have to quarantine if they came into contact with a COVID positive individual. The new rule states that one must quarantine if they are within 6th feet of a COVID positive individual for more than 15 minutes even if they are wearing a mask.
Be sure to wear a mask and sit at least 6ft away from others when you meet in person.
Thanks!

Guidelines for Supervising Employees Children on Campus
Our NJHS students typically provide childcare during staff development week. Since we will not have students on campus we will not offer childcare during staff development week and we will need to make off campus childcare arrangements.
Campus employees may bring their school-aged children to school with them from August 12 through September 4. This includes school-aged students not enrolled in CISD.
Employees should complete the daily COVID check-in and should ensure that the employee and children can answer “no” to all of the screening questions. Like an employee, a child may not enter the building if he/she does not pass the screening.
Options for ATTENDANCE FOR ONLINE STUDENTS
1. Teachers may count students present if a student logs in to Canvas at any time in a 24 your period. (time stamp.)
2. The student attends your live lesson or office hours that day.
3. The student submits an assignment that day.
See flowchart!
Attendance FAQs
Q: Will eTac allow us to take attendance on Monday for the previous Friday.
A: Yes. It is a lagging system. If they mark in-person students on Friday in eTac (say with three ABS), then Monday they will change the date to Friday’s date, then can mark their virtual students. All in the same class if needed.
Q: How do you take attendance for a class that is part remote and part face-to-face.
A: You would take attendance as you normally would do for face-to-face. For the remote students, there is no time or period, they just have to meet one of the three criteria set forth by the district (see above for the 3 ways to be counted present). They would have up to 11:59 PM to engage in some way. The teacher would be able to go into eTac the following day and count the student present or absent, depending on engagement or lack thereof.
Q: Can a student do all of his homework for the week on Monday and still be counted present for the rest of the week?
A: No. They would be present for Monday and absent Tuesday-Friday. Just because they did the work all in one day, the student would still have to be counted present each day using one of the three criteria for meeting attendance set forth by the district.
Q: Can a student make up work on Tuesday and be counted present for Monday?
A: No. Unless there was some way to prove the student was present on Monday, using one of the three criteria set forth by the district, the student would be counted absent for Monday.
Q. How are high school teachers supposed to track daily student engagement as required for asynchronous instruction when they have 150+ students every day?
A. Tracking ADA requires one measure of student engagement per day, not one measure of student engagement per day per course. However, in order for HS students to meet the 90/10 requirement, there will need to be a way to determine student attendance for each course.

NOTES 7/29/2020
- Discussion: We need to revisit the option of having 1 teacher take all online kids and the rest in person versus everyone handling their own online kids. We are up to 210 7th grade online students and 159 8th grade students. All teachers will teach online and in person students. All core content teachers will have a conference period and PLC period. Elective teachers will only have one conference period. I have proposed they receive a stipend or be allowed to submit a time sheet for extra time worked.
2. The PLC room will serve as the Isolation Room for sick students.
Agenda - 8/17/2020
1. Maybe we could host "online" after school tutorials where our teachers are available on Zoom to help students with work. Just like the normal SSC but on Zoom. Teachers would submit a time sheet just the same. Just an idea.
2. All core content teachers have a PLC period and conference period. Teams are expected to meet at least twice a week.
3. This may be addressed in Canvas training next week, but should we keep each section separate in Canvas so each class period only has access to the students in THEIR period and the ability to build relationships within their class? Or should we combine the sections that do the same lessons? Last year, I combined my level classes so I didn't have to update as much, but I can see where it would be beneficial this year to have separate pages for each class period in order to build relationships.
COVID precautions
We have taken some steps to help everyone who is at school remain COVID free!
1. We have hand sanitizer stations in key locations.
2. All teachers will receive hand a sanitizer bottle for their classroom. NOTE*** please DO NOT throw the pump away once it is empty!! Your pump will be refilled, so PLEASE DO NOT throw it away, just let Zimmerman or a custodian know and we will refill it!
3. Clorox wipes will be placed in high traffic areas and near the copy machine, microwaves, etc.
4. We are ordering signage for our school with social distancing and screening information.
5. Doors in high traffic areas will be propped open.
6. More to come!
COVID Reminders for Staff
1. Prescreening: Staff members should not come in if they are sick or exhibiting symptoms related to COVID-19 or if someone in the household has symptoms. Remember to complete the self-check-in in SSO.
2. Hygiene: Use sanitizer upon entering the facility. Stations have been placed appropriately throughout work areas.
3. Limit food sharing and remember to wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
4. Mask/Face covering. Staff members should wear face coverings while working near others or in common spaces. Do not touch face coverings and to wash hands frequently.
5. Distance: The expectation for our work environment is that we allow for safe physical separation.
6. Limit the number of people in the same area.
7. Clean and Disinfect: Regularly wipe down shared equipment and common hardware.
