Student Supervision
In the classroom- Planning highly engaging lessons will keep their minds focused on the right thing: teaching and learning. This is the time to pull out all of those "fun" learning activities you have been wanting to do with your students.
RECESS- The injuries and the arguments students are getting and having can be reduced with close teacher proximity and active supervision. The soccer field is a hot spot for problems. If you are going to allow your students to play soccer then a teacher must be an active referee. Our recess area is VERY big yet I do not see teachers spread out. Administration will be monitoring the playground periodically to make sure supervision is at its best. Work with the teachers who are outside with you at the same time to decide on zones of close proximity to supervise.
Zones- Blacktop, playground equipment, soccer field, kickball/baseball area.
Promotion/Retention Decisions & Summer School
GA Milestones results are scheduled to be delivered to the district in late June/early July.
Summer School (face to face) will be offered to students in 3rd-5th grade.s The following is the criteria:
3rd grade students who have a yearlong average below 70 in reading.
4th & 5th grade students who have a yearlong average below 70 in reading and math.
4th grade students with a yearlong average below 70 in science and social studies will be offered online interventions.
Retesting will occur in GCPS. Details are forthcoming.
Currently, summer school will be held at Mountain Park ES for the Parkview Cluster Schools. If our numbers are high due to the new criteria then we might need to offer summer school here. That would mean we would need Arcado 3rd-5th grade teachers to teach summer school. We will keep you updated as we are pulling student data to determine who will be invited to summer school.
