Google Summit a Success - and a Return Engagement!

On October 25th and 26th almost 300 educators participated in the first annual Google in Education Summit at TRU Convention Center in Kamloops. This high intensity, two day event focused on deploying, integrating, and using Google Apps for Education and other Google tools to promote student learning in K-12 and higher education. Session topics focused on practical classroom applications of Google Apps, including Google Drive Suite (Docs, Spreadsheets, Presentations, Forms and more!), YouTube, Earth, Maps, Sites, search strategies, digital citizenship, Chromebooks, Google Art Project, Google+, and much more. Attendees were excited about their learning and had many “take-aways” that they could put to practical use right away in their classrooms. Feedback was so positive that we have already booked our next Summit - please mark Oct 24/25, 2014 on your calendars for our second annual event!

We are excited to be well into the planning of our first ever TEDxYouth@Kamloops event! This event is a collaborative project between SD73 and TRU, and is open to all students in grade 8 up to age 20.
