Early High School Planning
Early High School Planning
In Texas, your high school graduation plan is tailored to what you want to do. In eighth grade you pick an area of interest or skill (called an endorsement) that you want to focus on in high school.
High school endorsements consist of a related series of courses that are grouped together by interest or skill set. They provide students with in-depth knowledge of a subject area. Students must select an endorsement in the ninth grade.
The following sites will assist you and your student through the process and understanding their future:
*Please complete in the sequence order above
Parents, thank you for getting your child(ren) to school on time everyday. School starts promptly at 8:25 a.m. and your diligence, as parents, is much appreciated. Their attendance ensures that they receive all of the knowledge and skills they need to be successful in and out of the classroom.
Should your child be absent please ensure they bring a note from home and/or doctors note so we properly mark their absence.
If your child is sick and will miss more than one day of school, please contact the front office to arrange for work to be sent home so that your child(ren) do not fall behind in their courses.
Please be on the look out for perfect attendance awards/gifts monthly. Smith MS wants to continue to encourage our students and applaud their dedication as scholars.
Hurricane Season (Jun. 1-Nov. 30, 2019)
We are in the midst of hurricane season and I want to ensure that you and your student(s) are prepared. Many of us are still feeling the devastation of last years tropical storm and are slowly getting back to normal. Below you will find tips, resources, and links to assist you and your family in the event our area is hit by another hurricane/tropical storm.
•Know your areas risk for flooding or hurricanes
•Sign up for your community warning system
•Make an evacuation plan/shelter in place
•Know evacuation routes, zones, and shelter locations
•Gather need supplies for at least 3 days & don’t forget pets
•Keep important documents safe in protective holder or make digital copies
•Use generators outside and away from windows
•Do not walk, swim, drive in flood waters
