Gregg at Claxton
May 26, 2016
Hello All!
Our class has completed the Math and Reading End of Grade Tests and the children worked so hard! I am so very proud of them.
I'd like to remind you of breakfast tomorrow, May 27. I will provide muffins and fruit - please bring your own beverage. Breakfast will be from 7:45-8:30. At that time, I will share some math games and websites for the summer. The children will need to practice computation skills so that by the time they enter fourth grade, they are fluent in simple addition, subtraction, addition and subtraction with regrouping, multiplication and division (within 100).
I've also been talking to the children about reading during the summer. It is important to prevent summer loss - the loss of skills, strategies and reading levels. At this age, practice is essential! I have included a link below with an article posted on the PBS website. I hope you find it interesting and informative.
Finally, I'd like to ask you to check for library books and send them to school as soon as possible. I'm also asking you to send the big math manipulative bag back to school by June 3. I need to begin packing up materials for next year.
I continue to be so very grateful for the support you've shown your children, Claxton, and me this year. I hope all of you have a wonderful and safe summer.
Sincerely,
Holly
