Happy Holidays!!!

The Holidays are close!

I just wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you for the work that you have done this first half of the school year. We've had some changes and played musical centers (Mary), but it's been great. All of you have done a wonderful job working together, in your centers, and with the families to ensure that all of our children are meeting and exceeding their requirements.

I hope all of you have a wonderful holiday season with your family and that many blessings come your way!

Family Connection

Bobbie-Mart Holiday Hours

Just like K-mart, Bobbie-Mart has a set of holiday hours...but no magic elves.

Starting on December 4, the parent store will be open EVERY Wednesday until Christmas; with the exception of December 11. Due to our agency wide staff meeting, the store will be opening on Tuesday, December 10 of that week.

The December hours will be 9 am to 4 pm.

If you have any questions, please let Bobbie know.

Vital Records

I have found some resources for obtaining vital records and I will be sending them your way. I only pulled the 5 surrounding states, but the website is on there if you need a different location.

Please keep these for your families, especially as we get closer to the end of the year and parents begin needing birth certificates, etc. This is also a good tool if they need things like marriage, divorce, or death certificates.

It includes the cost, the address to send the request to, and some information about how to obtain that specific item.

Parent Education

Please remember that I have educational resources located in my office for parents when I am unable to attend your parent meetings, or you just feel that your parents may need some more information on something.

I do ask two things of you: If you use a good resource that you did not obtain from me, please send me a copy to put at our main office in case someone else could utilize it. The second, not so optional item is, if you want to search for your own information related to health for a parent, I ask that you only use the CDC or Mayo Clinic websites. I feel that the information there is reliable and non-bias. If you do want to use another source, please let me review it first.

Breastfeeding Education

For the December parent meeting in Early Head Start, they will have a Lactation Consulting Expert in attendance to provide the parents with some more informative education on breastfeeding. I chose to focus on Early Head Start since we have a few kids in there that are candidates for breastfeeding.

If you think that may be something your centers would be interested in, please let me know and I'll see if we can get her scheduled for a visit.

No one has sent me a number regarding how many children still need a hemoglobin screening so I will give you the dates that I will be at each center to help accomplish this.

Camp Joy - December 9

Tazewell - December 16

Richlands (including Shirleen's Home Based) - December 12

Raven - December 6

EHS (Center and Home Based) - December 10*

If there is some reason that these dates do not work for your center, please let me know as soon as possible. I know that during December, the classrooms plan a lot of festivities, this schedule can be altered or even moved to January, but I need to know ahead of time.

And if your center doesn't have any needed Hemoglobins, please let me know before I get there.

*EHS, I plan on doing some of these, if necessary, at the parent meeting and the center.
