From the Principal's Office....
New York State ELA and Math Assessments are complete! Fourth graders will take the Science Assessment (2 parts) at the end of May. Thank you for sending your children into the assessments, as you always do, ready to do their best.
During our School Wide Meeting in May we will highlight two students who have been involved in projects outside of school that exemplify our Positivity Project work this year. Charlotte Buttolf (3rd grade - Mrs. Herr) and Emme Decker (5th - Mrs. Hendrix) are both leading fundraising and awareness around empowering other children! We are fortunate to have so many examples of compassion and leadership at State Street!
Thank you to EVERYONE for your patience with the ongoing construction projects. The main entrance project is in it's final stages and is open! Progress continues on the village water main project directly in front of State Street. If you have any questions, please give me a call or drop me an email.
Thank you for all that you do to partner with us! It is much appreciated.
Fondly,
PTC - Run for Funds
We'd also like to thank Sarah Kiefer for organizing drone photos of State Street and Waterman for the yearbooks! You can see it below!
MAY Cycle Day Calendar! Download, print and refrigerator ready!
5th graders and 2nd graders are leading a marker recycling project at State Street!
AAA Safety Patrol coming to State Street
A GREAT resource for our students and their families!
Attendance Matters
Parents or guardians of students absent, tardy or leaving early at rates of 10%, 15%, 20% or more will be notified by letter of our concern. We know that there are many factors that lead to student attendance. We are happy to help your family with those matters and resolving any issues that may be contributing to the attendance pattern. Your child's teacher, Abbie Paine, our school counselor, school nurse Mikhel DeRosalia and I are available to consult and help you and your child in any way.
The attendance thresholds as of the end of Ap rilare:
- 10% absent, late and/or tardy = 15 days for the 18-19 school year so far
- 15% absent, late and/or tardy = 17 days for the 18-19 school year so far
- 20% absent, late and/or tardy = 25 days for the 18-19 school year so far
In addition, excused absences/tardies/early dismissal include the following:
- Personal illness
- Illness or death in the family
- Impassable roads
- Religious observance
- Military obligation
The attendance policy does not differentiate whether an absence/tardy/early dismissal is excused or unexcused. The policy includes both.
Please be sure to communicate through a note, phone call or email to school regarding your child's attendance. You can call Kim Shepard in the Attendance Office at 315-291-2263 or email her at kshepard@skanschools.org.
