Shop and Woodwork:
Shop will be filled with opportunities to work with a variety of tools and materials. Students will be encouraged to problem solve and collaborate while working through projects.
Sewing and Embroidery:
Students will gain experience in the foundations of the art of sewing by working on projects that will be offered as gifts for clients in the community participating in the offerings of social and church ministries.

This class will provide ample opportunities for students to practice taking and uploading pictures of various activities to help promote the school. Students will gain experience in professional print publishing, social media advertisement, and web-based articles.

Mrs. McNulty will guide students through teambuilding activities to share with other grade levels. Students will be encouraged to problem solve, strategize, and develop innovative ways to help others and work with younger students through stories, games, and meaningful activities connected to growing closer to Christ.
Reading Buddies:
Students will have the opportunity to choose exciting books and create lessons to read with younger students. The Reading Buddy program will be a working, growing relationship between older and younger students. Younger students will be able to share their skills by practicing reading aloud while older buddies have the opportunity to listen and guide reading as needed.

Drop off and Dismissal
SMG back doors will be open for morning arrival for ALL students PK3-8th grade at 7:25AM. To help keep our campus safe and consistent, there will not be any drop-offs in the front of the building (except for tardies after 7:50AM). Students will walk directly to the cafetorium to meet teachers. Seventh and eighth grade students will be available to walk younger students (if needed) to the cafetorium or to classes after 7:40AM. Teachers will be ready to receive students in the cafetorium this week and will then walk students to the classroom at 7:40 to model and set expected procedures.
Please be on time! Daily announcements begin at 7:45AM. All students arriving after 7:50AM on any school day MUST be signed in by a parent in the front office before going to class.
Afternoon pick-up from classrooms:
Doors open at 3:00PM each day. It is important that we allow students to complete procedures and are ready for pick-up without interruptions or congestion in the hallway. Thank you for your patience as we work through these hot afternoons.

Financial Aid
It is important to know that according to the National Center for Educational Statistics, the average cost for educating a child in the U.S. is over $12,000.00 per year. We have made every attempt to reduce costs and keep opportunities for a Catholic education possible for families. SMG has managed to keep the multi-family discounts while also continuing to provide additional financial support. We will continue to reach out into the community to request donations and funds for Financial Assistance. If you know of businesses or foundations who would be interested in supporting SMG, please contact Leah Rios, Abbey Lewis, or Nancy Benson.
Thank you for all your support and choosing Saint Maria Goretti as your Catholic school!
Prayers
Lift Sarah Bishop (5th/6th grade teacher) and her family up in prayer as they mourn the loss of their 94 year old uncle, Erwin R. Johnson of New Orleans.
Keep PK4 assistant teacher, Theresa Dickerson's sister in your prayers as she works through the healing process of an infection after surgery.
Continue to pray for our Bishop, priests, administrators, educators, and parents as we continue to guide these young disciples closer to Christ.
Continue to pray for the Gaal family as they heal and continue on their faith journey.
