Entering the Homestretch
Dear Atholton Families,
On this Memorial Day, thank you for taking a moment to honor and remember our servicemen and servicewomen who answered America's call to service and paid the ultimate price.
This past week was a busy one with a focus on our seniors and their graduation. The week was filled with final exams, rehearsals, and the awards ceremony. The week ended with the 2019 Atholton High School Commencement Ceremony.
To the Class of 2019 parents: Congratulations once again! I would like to take this opportunity to say, as I did in my graduation speech, it has been an honor and a pleasure to have served as your principal. Thank you for your contributions to the Atholton community and thank you for allowing me to be a part of your journey. I wish each of you the very best. I suppose these newsletters are no longer relevant (smile). Photos from all high school commencement ceremonies will uploaded to here no later than June 7. Additionally, you may find a recording of the ceremony here.
Our building will be a little less crowded and a little more quiet as we have 400 less students. There is still much work to be done and PARCC testing to complete. These next four weeks will fly by and June 21 will be here before you know it.
Just a reminder that HCPSS policy prohibits final exams from being given BEFORE their designated date. If a student has an excused absence on the day of the final exam, it must be taken over the summer. Please make arrangements with teachers.
Lastly, at tomorrow’s PTSA meeting, we are hoping to elect the new executive board (President, Vice-President, Treasurer, etc.). Your attendance and participation in Atholton’s PTSA is critical to the success of our school. We hope to see you at 7pm in the Media Center.
Have a fantastic week!
