Theatre Rep Show: The Dining Room
The play is set in a single dining room where 18 scenes from different households overlap and intertwine. Each story is focused around a different family during different time periods who possess the same dining room furniture set, manufactured in 1898. The scenes deal with the changes in lifestyle of the 20th Century American upper-middle class as they move from a strict traditional culture into a more efficient progressive one. Audiences will be observers in the dining room themselves as the play is present on a thrust stage surrounding the dining room itself on a thrust stage in the intimate BVW BlackBox Theatre. Seating is limited to 42 audience members at each performance, and we expect the shows to sell out quickly. Get your tickets today at www.bvwestjags.com/event-tickets .

Esports has officially launched this semester and we are finishing up our first season of competitive play! Esports are becoming more and more popular with high schools and colleges across the country. We are so excited to offer this opportunity to our students!
BVW competed in several games since our season started in January. We had 3 Overwatch teams, 1 Valorant team, 1 CS:GO team, 1 Rainbox Six: Siege team, and several Minecraft players competing.
1 Overwatch team placed 22nd out of 300 and will compete in the playoffs. Team members are: Caroline Ashner, Ethan Boy, Jayden Luangkhot, Nathan Binshtok, Nicolas Aponte
Our Valorant team also placed highly and will compete in the playoffs. Team members are: Yash Cherukumudi, Jayden Luangkhot, Mark Michael, Preston Jones, Quinn Bohling.
In Minecraft, Andy Duarte made it to the champions circle and will compete in the playoffs.
We want to wish the best of luck to these talented players in the next coming weeks as they play for their titles!
Blue Valley also hosted its first Esports Showcase where all 5 schools competed in a Rocket League Tournament at Blue Valley Southwest on March 24th. Our Rocket League team was Jayden Luangkhot, Preston Jones, and Avery VanCompernolle. They did amazing and took 2nd place!"

This foundation works toward educating youth of the importance of swimming and water safety in order to prevent child drownings. We will be taking donations at the door or, if you are a local business owner and would like to be a sponsor for this event, you may reach out to head coach Jordan Jacobs (jrjacobs@bluevalleyk12.org) to sponsor a swim or dive event for the meet! The meet’s theme is “Hawaiian”, so dust off your grass skirt and dress in your favorite luau or beach gear! See flyer below for more information on how to donate if you cannot attend.

JOCO Resource Numbers
Numbers you need to know
Last July, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (1-800-273-8255 or 1-800-273-TALK) transitioned to a three-digit dialing code, 988. The three-digit dialing code routes calls to the Lifeline network and provides a connection to local support and services for those experiencing a mental health crisis. Johnson County Mental Health Center began answering Lifeline calls as a part of the national network in August of 2021.
In its first five months, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline received over 1.7 million calls, texts and chats. Federal government data shows a significant increase in calls, texts and chats from December 2021 to December 2022. To learn more about the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, check out our Mental Health Moment—a weekly newsletter that opens dialogue, increases understanding, and removes some of the stigmas surrounding mental health issues where we’ve prepared hot, warm and crisis lines for you to add to your contact list. We all need some help sometimes, and it’s okay to reach out.

Activities and Athletics Message
Blue Valley Families,
We are excited to have your families come to support our high school activities and athletics this school year. It is great to see the entire community at these events. It is imperative that our parent community partner with us as we work to encourage a positive atmosphere for our high school games or events.
Sportsmanship/officials: We want to give our student athletes the opportunity to play as many games as possible and we need officials to make those games happen. With a local and national shortage of officials, we want to make sure officials continue to choose to work Blue Valley events. The number one way we can create a welcoming environment is for spectators, coaches and student athletes to be courteous and respect the official’s decisions.
Tailgating: Tailgating before games has become a tradition for many students and families. We love to see our community gathering together to enjoy food and tailgate games in our parking lots. As a reminder, alcohol and tobacco are not allowed on district property including parking lots.
Thank you for your help in making our district events a great experience for all who attend. We hope to see your family cheering for our Blue Valley teams this school year.
Fostering a Safe Environment
As we move into a new semester please share the following message in your upcoming family newsletters:
Blue Valley Schools is committed to promoting and fostering a safe environment in and around all of our schools. Through the convergence of physical and intellectual security measures, we are continuously working to prevent, mitigate, respond to and recover from a wide range of emergencies. Please check out available ways to report safety concerns.
