OUR HIGHLANDER CREED

HIGHLANDER APPRECIATION WEEK IS HERE!
A NOTE FROM PRINCIPAL RUIZ
Highlander Families,
This year is quickly coming to an end. Our official countdown to Summer is 15 school days! To finish strong, please ensure students are in school uniform daily and are ready to learn. Beginning this Monday, May 8, students will no longer need to bring backpacks to school.
We are officially in the season of testing and we want our students to shine bright. Please limit their cell phone and online usage to no later than 9:00 p.m. We want our students to get adequate sleep so that they can be their best version.
This week, we will administer our last STAAR of the school year.
Tuesday, May 9: STAAR Math/Algebra for 6th-8th grade
This week, we also celebrate all the amazing Faculty/Staff that make Hill the best! Read below to see how you can celebrate our faculty/staff.
Special shout-out to our Debate coaches! Thank you, Mr. Antoine, Dr. Garmon, and Mr. Martinez for a successful debate season! We finished the season with 2nd place in Advanced Policy, 3rd place in Beginner Policy, Speaker Awards, and Outstanding Debate Program!
Here are a few reminders:
- Every Thursday at Hill is college day with uniform bottoms.
- Fridays are typically Jean and Students Wearing Appropriate Gear (SWAG) days. Please ensure your child is not wearing pajamas, leggings, or torn & ripped jeans on those days.
- ID badges are required to be worn around their neck and will be checked as they enter each classroom. Students who do not adhere to our dress code policy will be disciplined based on the district code of conduct handbook.
- If your child has an afternoon appointment, please have them picked up before 3:15 p.m.
May this be our best year yet as we Aspire to Go Higher!
