Worship
Stand In Your Love
When darkness tries to roll over my bones
When sorrow comes to steal the joy I own
When brokenness and pain is all I know
I won't be shaken, no, I won't be shaken
My fear doesn't stand a chance
When I stand in Your love
My fear doesn't stand a chance
When I stand in Your love
My fear doesn't stand a chance
When I stand in Your love
Oh, shame no longer has a place to hide
And I am not a captive to the lies
Oh, I'm not afraid to leave my past behind
I won't be shaken, no, I won't be shaken
There's power that can break off every chain
There's power that can empty out a grave
There's resurrection power that can save
There's power in Your name, power in Your name
Time for our Bible Story!
Last week we learned that Jesus loves us and looks after us. Jesus told people that his Father cares for his creation deeply, even the smallest parts, such as birds and flowers. Jesus taught the people that God cares for us and covers us even more, so we can hand our worries off to him. Instead of being worried, Jesus teaches us that we should always look for his kingdom and his righteousness. We need to be looking to him, to what he’s saying and doing!
Find it in the Bible
In a physical Bible, or in a Bible app like YouVersion, look up Mark 4:37-40. Read it together. Think and talk about this:
- What is our storm?
- How do we think Jesus feels about us in the middle of our storm?
- What are we saying to Jesus in the middle of the storm?
- What are Jesus’ words to us in the storm?
Let's think about that a little bit!
- How do you think Jesus’ friends felt as they got into the boat with Jesus and headed out into the lake?
- What scared Jesus’ friends in today’s story?
- Where did Jesus go during the storm? What do you imagine Jesus should be doing when a storm like this happens?
- Why do you think it Jesus is sleeping in the middle of the storm?
- What did Jesus say to the storm? What does that word make you think of?
- What does Jesus ask his friends after he hushed the wind and waves?
- What does Jesus want us to take away from this?
Quiet time - just you and Jesus
Find a spot where you and Jesus can chat. Let’s imagine ourselves on that grassy hill and Jesus just got done talking to you. Let’s sit quietly for a few minutes in His presence and imagine Jesus walking up to you and asking for your worries. What worries do you want to talk with him about?
We are going to take a few minutes of quiet for you to be with Jesus and to talk with him.
This story is similar to what we read about last week with seeking Jesus first instead of worrying. What fears did you share with Jesus today? Would you like further prayer on this? Pray for the worries and that God would help them Seek First His Kingdom instead of worry.
