DAY 1: Monday June 24 : 1pm-4pm Afternoon at UMD + Evening by the Lake
Afternoon : 1pm-4pm at UMD
Introductions
Media Arts Intro & Mixed-Media Experiments in Art & Design classrooms:
Demos and hands-on experiments using mixed-media collage, water-based paints, image transfer techniques with Joellyn Rock and Alison Aune
Media Arts Intro / Digital Narratives with Jeremy Holien
Demonstrations and hands-on experiments for communicating expressively with media, sequencing activities, and storytelling structures.
Dinner Downtown (TBD:Lake Ave Cafe, Va Bene, Boat Club?)
Evening: Digital Photography Session by the Lake (location to be determined?)
Texture + Light, working with available photo gear and mobile cameras.
Images will be used in our day 2 workshops about Design Media, Image Transfer, and Experimental Video
DAY 2: Tuesday June 25 : 9am - 4pm All Day at UMD
Morning: CHOICES:
Graphic Design Media Workshop / Text and Texture: Combine text and texture in mixed-media graphics. Work with design tools on computers and mixed-media. Working with textures from the evening session by the lake and mixing other imagery and letterforms, create new experimental works of typographic design. Workshop leaders: Vicky Lehman and Jennifer Gordon
Chromakey Video Studio / Experimental Storytelling: Experiment with Green Screen video techniques in UMD’s Motion + Media Across Disciplines Lab (MMAD lab). Test special effects using background imagery and bodies in the video studio. Workshop leaders: Joellyn Rock, Jeremy Holien, and MMADlab staff, Dan Fitzpatrick

Tweed Museum Exhibits Tour with Alison Aune

Image transfer on Ceramics Demo:
2D on 3D / Experimental use of 2Dimensional Imagery onto 3 Dimensional Objects a Demo of techniques in the UMD Ceramics studio with Liz James and Jim Klueg
Video Editing Workshop / UMD Multimedia Hub (Experimental use of layered video and special effects in time-based media) Work in video editing software in computer lab. Learn how to re-combine digital images with chromakey video, remixing into other video clips and audio loops to create experimental videos. Learn how to let go and make new discoveries with layers of video with Joellyn Rock, Jeremy Holien, Dan Fitzpatrick
DAY 3 : Wednesday June 26 : 9am - 4pm All Day at UMD

Mixed-Media Video project wrap-up with Joellyn Rock in the Multimedia Hub
Complete editing videos and/or return to Image Transfer studios.
