A Message from the Principal
Dear Sheridan Families,
What a full week at Sheridan! Monday’s Halloween festivities cranked the energy UP in the building. We hope you enjoyed seeing the cast of characters in our costume parade; we were quite a sight walking down Sheridan Road! We had a tremendous response to the APT Food Drive. Thanks to all who donated and to our fourth graders who promoted the event. We ended the week today with a Shark “family” event focusing on emotions and growth mindset. It’s a great kickoff to a month of giving, gratitude, and the power of “YET”.
Next week’s schedule is choppy, so here’s a quick reference:
Monday, 11/7 - Regular school day 8:00 am -1:45 pm
Tuesday, 11/8 - No school, Election Day
Wednesday, 11/9 - Regular school day, 8:00 am - 2:50 pm
Thursday, 11/10 - No Early Childhood Attendance. Veteran’s Day Assembly, 8:05-8:20 am in the gym. All are welcome to join us. Please add a slide to our Veterans Day Slideshow so that we showcase everyone who has served, or is currently serving.
Friday, 11/11 - No school, Institute Day
Enjoy the warm weather this weekend and remember to change your clocks!
Sincerely,
Susan

Construction Update
ComEd’s bridge contractor notified the City that Deerpath Road only needs to be closed for one weekend (instead of two) in order for ComEd to install the new bike path bridge. Deerpath Road will remain open this weekend and will not be closing on Friday at 9 am as originally planned.
In addition to ComEd, IDOT is completing work along the Deerpath Road corridor over the next few weeks. Here's what to expect:
Deerpath Road Final Resurfacing and Striping: Planned for the Week of Nov. 7
IDOT’s contractor plans to finish resurfacing Deerpath Road during the week of November 7. The final steps (priming the pavement, placing asphalt, and striping the roadway) are expected to take several days. Expect intermittent lane closures and traffic delays during this work. Dates are weather dependent and subject to change.
One Lane of Traffic on Deerpath Road: Planned for One Day the Week of Nov. 7
Deerpath Road will have intermittent lane closures between Ahwahnee Lane and Route 41 with flaggers directing traffic. One lane of traffic will remain open at all times. These intermittent closures are necessary for ComEd’s contractor to pour the bridge’s concrete support walls. While the exact date depends on weather, this work is expected to occur the week of Nov. 7 and will take one day.
- Full Deerpath Road Closure: Planned for Friday, Nov. 18 at 7 pm through Monday, Nov. 21 at 5 am Deerpath Road will be completely closed between Ahwahnee Lane and Route 41 for the new bridge deck to be lifted and placed on the support walls. Deerpath Road will remain open to local traffic from Green Bay Road to Ahwahnee Lane. Drivers are encouraged to use Green Bay Road south to Westleigh Road to access both Route 41 and Waukegan Road.
