Greengate Newsletter
October 2016
Message from the Head of School
Greengate Family,
I'm not sure what happened to August and September, but they both have flown by! I hope your child's school year is going well now that the first quarter is coming to a close. I can assure you that the students have been busy and actively engaged in learning. Progress reports will be emailed on Wednesday, October 19th. Please help your child use their progress from 1st quarter to set goals for improvement for the 2nd nine weeks.
We have scheduled parent conferences a little differently this year. We held new parent conferences at the end of September, without any disruption to our school day. Parents of students in their 2nd year or more will attend a conference with tutors and teachers on the regularly scheduled conference day, which is Friday, October 21st. This has allowed us to have a little more time for each meeting with parents. Please note: there will be no school for any students on Friday, October 21st.
All parents are encouraged to “like” us on Facebook, “follow” us on twitter, and visit our school website on a regular basis. Great things are happening at Greengate! Thank you to our staff, students, and community for your continued support. It takes all of us working together to make our school a success!

Student Council News
This year the Greengate Student Council is sponsoring Socktober. Every day in the United States, an estimated 600,000 people live on the streets. The students at Greengate would like to prove that even the smallest act of kindness, like donating a pair of socks, can make a big difference in the lives of our neighbors who are homeless. Did you know socks are the least donated item? Our goal is to donate at least 50 pair of socks to a local homeless shelter. Please send in a new pair of unworn socks by October 27th. As an incentive for students and staff to participate in spreading acts of kindness, Greengate will have a crazy sock day on Friday, October 28th. Any student or faculty member who donates even one pair of new socks (children, or adults) will be able to participate.
