September News
Welcome Back!
Welcome Back to school and a warm welcome to all of our new staff members! Throughout the school year, we will continue to build our diverse library collection. Please let me know if there is anything specific you are looking for and we can order it for you. There is currently a display of "back to school" related books on the circulation area of the library. A reminder to please check out all books you wish to borrow using our self serve circulation program with your employee number. If you need any assistance or a refresher on how to use the circulation system, please come see me. I look forward to collaborating with you all!
Library Orientation
As we begin our new school year, we will be inviting classes to the library for orientation. Classes in grades 1 to 5 are asked to sign up for 3 orientation periods , using our online "Room Booking System" beginning the week of September 14th . Orientation for our K classes will begin the week of September 21st. Once our orientation is complete, "open book exchange" will begin. Our goal is to have the library open for "open book exchange" during the first week of October.
Online Room Booking System
As mentioned above, please use the online booking system when booking time in our library and learning commons, as well as for our netbook and iPad carts. This online booking system can be accessed through our school broadcast page. Click on the link: https://rooms.peelschools.org/1418/default.aspx under the "My School Links" section. You can then book a period in the library, learning commons, the netbook cart or the iPad cart. If you need some assistance or a refresher on how to use this system, please come see me.
International Dot Day - September 15th
We will once again be celebrating International Dot Day on Tuesday, September 15th.
International Dot Day is named for the classic Peter H. Reynolds storybook, The Dot. Check out www.thedotclub.org for more information about how to celebrate creativity, courage and collaboration with your students. We have registered our school and have received an electronic copy of the Educator's Handbook, which provides examples of creative ways to observe this special day. Please send me an email if you would like me to forward you a copy of the handbook. We have multiple copies of the book in our collection and I will be distributing one copy per grade level for sharing. Staff and students are invited to wear either dots or stripes to help celebrate this special day.
