District Convocation Information 8/5/19
All Cedar Hill HS staff need to report to the cafeteria at 7:30 AM to pick up your campus T-Shirt.
The district’s Convocation will be held Monday, August 5, at the Performing Arts Center (PAC) at Cedar Hill High School. Doors open at 7 a.m. for coffee, tea, and pastries in the PAC lobby. The show starts at 8:30 a.m. Attendance at this event is mandatory for all staff.
Our theme is: “For 115 Years and Beyond… We are One!”
Attire: CHHS will wear a campus-specific spirit shirt with black bottoms ( No Jeans)
Refreshments: This year, the district will provide coffee, tea, and pastries for staff before the program begins.
Seating: We’ll be seated by campus in the PAC. Seats at the end of each row will have signage with the campus names. Volunteers will also assist with escorting groups to their seats.
Campus and Department Roll Call: Each campus and department will be announced one by one and groups are to stand when their names are called and give a chant or cheer from their seats. All introductions must be no more than 60 seconds. Departments are not allowed on stage for introductions, but you can utilize the aisles in the PAC for your introductions. The campus principals have decided to do a roll call to the same song, “We are One” by Frankie Beverly.
Emcee: Evan Anderson from NBC 5 will serve as the emcee for this year’s event. He will interview Dr. Hudson on stage, help introduce community partners and keep the program on time. The format for the interview will be similar to the Netflix Series - “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction”, where the host (Evan) interviews the subject (Dr. Hudson) on stage in front of a live audience. Communications will solicit light-hearted questions from staff for Evan to ask Dr. Hudson via a Google form.
NO EXCUSES....NO ALIBI
“Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up, it knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning in Africa, a lion wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve. It doesn't matter whether you're the lion or a gazelle-when the sun comes up, you'd better be running.”
Are you the Lion or Gazelle?
It is not about talent...It is about effort!
