Copopa drop off/pick up procedure.

Below you'll find the Copopa drop-off/pick-up procedure. If you are planning on picking up your child after school at the last minute. Please contact the Copopa office at 236-5020 and we'll add their name to the car rider list. There is no need to come into the office and sign your child out. We will ask you to come to the front door to show identification if this is your first time picking up your child.

New at Copopa!

You might notice a few changes around the Copopa grounds this school year! All of our outside lighting was upgraded to brand new LED lighting in the spring. So things will be much brighter when attending school events in the evening. The playground is being upgraded. The stairs and platforms on the playset are being replaced and the wood mulch is being replaced with shredded rubber. I know the kids will appreciate this at recess.

Also, CLSD will be a 1 to 1 district with technology this year. All students in grades 2 through 4 will have a Chromebook and each kindergarten and first-grade student will have an Ipad. Students in grades 3 and 4 will be permitted to take their Chromebooks home to complete their school work. Students will not be permitted to bring their own personal devices to work on while at school.

Visitors at Copopa

Visitors will be prohibited in the Copopa office again this school year. Parents will not be coming in for lunch as well. If you are picking up your child from school for an appointment please call ahead of time and we'll have them ready in the office when you arrive. There will be a sign-out sheet in the front vestibule to sign them out. If you will be dropping off items that your student forgot at home (homework or lunch) you'll just put it on the desk in the vestibule and we'll run it down to your student.

Champions after school care

Champion will be providing after-school care this year at Copopa. If you are interested, you can sign up your student here:

This program is hired as an independent contractor of CLSD. All employees go through a rigorous background check. Students will be reporting to room 20 at CMS for after-school care. If you have any questions, please contact Jennifer at (330) 212-8580.

Attendance Policy

Please look at the Copopa handbook and become familiar with the attendance policy. If your student is going to be absent from school, please contact the office at 236-5020 to report the absence before 8:30 am. Please leave a voicemail confirming this absence. State law requires us to verify an absence if we do not hear from you. So if you do not call to report your child's absence we will be calling you! You can view the Copopa handbook here:

Students receive free meals during 2021-2022 school year!

During the 2021-2022 school year, the Columbia Local School District will participate in the Seamless Summer Option (SSO) as authorized by the National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, and Summer Food Service Program.

All children in CLSD will receive breakfast and lunch at no charge without an application. However, to determine eligibility for various additional state and federal program benefits that your child’s school may qualify for, including a waiver of school instructional fees, please complete, sign and return the application to your school building. This information will not impact Seamless Summer Option meals in any way.

Parents need to update their contact information and Emergency Medical Information for their students in OneView by Tuesday, August 24. Hi from Mrs. Susie Dunn, the School Counselor!

Welcome to a new school year at Copopa! You and your child are beginning an exciting adventure, and I will be here for both of you every step of the way! I am your child's advocate and will continue to be throughout their years in elementary school. I provide classroom lessons on character education and social/emotional learning, small group guidance for children having difficulty, and I meet one-on-one with students struggling with personal, social, or academic issues as referred by teachers, parents, or principal. I know these past couple of years have been rough, kids and parents have been through some scary times. Your child's safety and well-being is at the top of our priorities, and we will work to provide routine, structure, friends, and a kind and caring staff that will help your child develop resilience and trust in others, thereby reducing fear, anxiety, and depression. If at any time I can be of service to your child, you, or your families, please do not hesitate to call or email. Best wishes for a wonderful school year!
