Summary
At this time at 9 o’clock in the morning is when Juliet is to send a messenger to Romeo. After the Capulet party, Mercutio and Benvolio still don’t have Romeo's whereabouts. Mercutio believes that Rosaline is still worrying Romeo which is why he has not turned up. Tybalt wants to fight Romeo, but Mercutio thinks that Romeo can’t fight because love has already killed him, and Tybalt is one the best fighters or ‘Prince of Cats’. Romeo and Mercutio have a brotherly argument with each other. Romeo and Mercutio make fun of the Nurse as she appears with Peter. Mercutio views this as a noticeable change because Romeo is always engaged in love instead of having fun and joking with his friends. Romeo speaks to the Nurse on the wedding arrangements, and plans to meet Juliet at Friar Lawrence's cell later that afternoon to be wed. Nurse tells Romeo to treat Juliet well or she’ll deal with him. Romeo plans to bring a rope behind the abbey wall and sleep with Juliet that night to tie the knot on their marriage.
Scene Actions
This song represents the part of the scene where Romeo and his friends were hanging out. As Romeo goes through his phases of love, Romeos friends try to make him relax and be calm by cracking jokes and having brotherly arguments, which Romeo had with Mercutio. This song says that everything feels bright and you'll change when you have a friend by your side, which suggests the major change in Romeo as he jokes with Mercutio and friends on the Nurse. This joking and arguing is the changing in Romeo and feeling bright or coming back to the normal Romeo his friends knew. With his friends by his side Romeo was able to become calmer and relaxed instead of always being sad about love as he was previously.
