"Deus vult!", meaning "God wills it" was the battle cry of the Crusaders. It came from a speech the Pope gave while gathering support for the First Crusade
Who? What? When? Where?
Crusades were holy wars between Christians in Western Europe and Muslims from the Middle East. The wars were fought between 1095 and 1291. The main goal was taking Jerusalem away from the muslims.
The war was led by Raymond of Saint-Gilles, Godfrey of Bouillon, Hugh of Vermandois, and Bohemond of Antioch.
Together as One
Constantine decided that he would believe in Christianity. By doing this, he united everyone. The pour liked the idea since the bible said they should be treated equal. The rich followed because it was trending.
Violence
Western Europe fought the Muslims for the Holy land. There were many different battles fought and many lives taken.
Religion
Constantine saw a cross in the sky and believed that it was a signal from God. Christianity became the most followed religion because it untied everyone.
Where was it fought?
Then crusades were fought in southeastern Europe. The Frankish warriors held off the Muslims from reaching western Europe.
