2023-2024 ENROLLMENT starting 02/21/2023

NEW Students Only: Kindergarten through 6th grade - packets will be available on the Monte Vista website https://www.gusd.net/montevista under the “enrollment” icon starting Feb 14, 2023 - please make an appointment using the calendly link and upload all your documents in the pre-enrollment section. If your student is currently in a GUSD TK program, please notify the MV office so you will not need to re-enroll.


**All current students do not need to re-enroll; your information will rollover to the next school year. Please call the front office if you have any questions 818-248-2617. Thank you!


NEW PROPOSED TK-6 PE CURRICULUM

As part of the adoption process, a link to the new proposed PE curriculum has been posted on the GUSD website for review by parents and community members. Here is the link to the page on the GUSD website.

JOIN THE CALDECOTT CLUB!

To encourage our students to read the very best in children's literature, the library hosts an incentive program celebrating the wonderful artwork of Caldecott Award winning books.


To participate, 1st-3rd grade students should read three Caldecott winning books and do art projects based on the illustrations. Students who turn in 3 different projects to the library by May 1st will be invited to our Ice Cream Social! Directions for the art projects can be found here: Art instructions.

MONTY TIMES

Calling all writers! The Monty Times needs you! If your 4th, 5th or 6th grader wants to create, investigate, write a story, write some jokes or edit a newspaper, have them come to the first Monty Times meeting on Wednesday, February 15 from 1:30 -2:30 to find out more. Meeting will be in Room 4109.

ENGLISH LEARNER ADVISORY COMMITTEE (ELAC) MEETING

Our next meeting will be held on February 6th at 3:00pm via Zoom (https://glendaleusd.zoom.us/j/86144279522). This meeting is for parents of English Language Learners. At this meeting we will discuss the EL program at Monte Vista, share information about the upcoming ELPAC assessment and recently updated reclassification criteria. Please contact teacher specialist Jessica Isco (jisco@gusd.net) with any questions.

NEGOTIATION UPDATES

On February 1, members of the Glendale Unified and GTA bargaining teams met for a fourth time with a mediator from the Public Employment Relations Board (PERB). Mediation is the first step in the impasse process. Another mediation session is scheduled for February 28.
