The Eagles' Nest
September 2017
From the Desk of Principal Reddish...
Dear Eagleville Families,
Welcome back! The promise of another exciting year at Eagleville Elementary fills our thoughts and actions as I write this letter to welcome all of you to the adventure that will be the 2017-2018 school year. To our new and returning families alike, I extend a sincere invitation to become involved in the dynamic life of our school, the center of our community and your child’s home away from home. Through the combined efforts of our dedicated staff and Home and School volunteers, we work together to make Eagleville a safe, warm, and engaging environment in which all students can and will learn and grow. Our school theme this year is TEAM - “Together Everyone Achieves More” as we are collectively committed to striving for excellence. The future is bright at Eagleville, and the sky is truly the limit as we SOAR to new heights this year!
Eagleville Elementary SOARS is our montra. SOARS is an acronym that stands for Safety-first and foremost, Optimism-positive outlook, Attitude of respect, Responsibility for actions, Strive for excellence. We will stress this in everything we do this year. September will be a busy month as we hit the ground running with instruction, assessments, and special events. Benchmark testing will be administered to students throughout the month. The data collected will then allow us to best meet the individual learning needs of all students through our Response to Instruction and Intervention (RtII) program that will begin in October. All students are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue clothing on Patriot's Day, September 11th. Back to School Night will take place on the evening of Tuesday, September 12th 6:30PM-8:30PM. Please go directly to the gym and carpool if possible, as parking will be limited. Come early and meet other parents and learn about volunteer opportunities at the Home and School (H&S) Meet-and-Greet at 6:00PM that evening. I'm looking forward to seeing you there! Please bring your smart phone (if you have one) for a fun activity.
I know you have received a lot of information this week. As a reminder, all parents are asked to return the handbook, emergency and custody forms to the office. In keeping with District policy and in an effort to mitigate issues associated with food allergies, I strongly encourage parents who wish to acknowledge their child’s birthday at school to do so with non-food items. The children were made aware of this practice at the welcome back assembly. Please do not send in food items for the class; instead consider donating a book or game to the classroom. Thank you, in advance, for your understanding and for your assistance with this process.
I look forward to working with all of you to make the 2017-2018 school year at Eagleville a success. Let's help our scholars SOAR to new heights this year by working as a TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More)!
