SMCS Mission
Preparing and inspiring students to lead meaningful lives, rooted in the teachings of Christ and our Catholic tradition.
Greetings from the Principal
Dear St. Gabriel Families,
Welcome back to our first full week of school following our Christmas break!
We thank God for giving us this brand new year ahead. I recently read the following beautiful prayer about the new year: May we all hear His voice more clearly, know His heart more deeply, rest in His love more fully, trust His care more completely, walk His path more peacefully, know His presence more intimately, and be blessed by His goodness more abundantly. Amen.
As we move into 2024, I thank you for the constant support and love you show our school. It is felt by our teachers and staff and shines in your children. I believe we have all been divinely placed together to guide our young children to lead faith-filled lives and to love learning.
Blessings,
Jennifer Giombetti
Associate Principal
Welcome!
Congratulations to the Niccum family!
Mrs. Niccum, our amazing 5th grade teacher, gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, Miles, on December 20th. Mrs. Niccum has shared that being able to spend Christmas with her perfect and precious little boy was the best gift ever! We welcome Mrs. Justine Semrow to the 5th grade classroom as our long term substitute teacher until Mrs. Niccum returns.
Servant Sunday First Grade
We still need 1st grade petition readers for this Sunday!
Calling all 1st graders!!! We are so excited to announce this new collaboration between our school and parish. Each month, a different grade will be encouraged to not only attend, but also take part in the 10:00 Sunday Mass. Our January Servant Sunday is taking place on January 14th. There will also be a social to follow. Please plan on joining us for this special day!

Christmas Blessings!
Thank you to everyone who made our weeks leading up to Christmas so memorable!
- Thank you Mr. Dahlberg and his middle schoolers for reading Christmas stories to our young students!
- Thank you Mrs. Kuehn and everyone who donated cookies and helped assemble cookie trays for our amazing staff!
- Thank you to all of you who contributed items to our teacher potluck! The soups were yummy!
- Thank you Mrs. Hamilton and the many volunteers it takes to make this such a wonderful and memorable afternoon for all!
- Thank you Mrs. McCurdy and Mr. Dillenburg for bringing the high school choir to St. Gabriel. We loved listening to the beautiful Christmas songs!
Parish Appreciation
On December 20th, we celebrated our amazing parish staff with a special assembly dedicated just to them! Our classes sang songs, presented cards, and made nice comments about each parish staff member.
Preschool Celebration!
Our sweet PK3 students entertained their families on December 13th with a glorious preschool celebration!
School Assembly
Thank you to Mrs. Olsen and her super second graders for teaching us about the word "believe." Part of our Zephyr Way is to believe in ourselves, in each other, and in our faith. Our next monthly assembly will take place on Thursday, January 25th, and will be led by our 4K students. Assemblies begin at 10:15 and last approximately 10-15 minutes.

Our New Mural
Thank you to our talented volunteer, Miss Nora Sammons, for painting a beautiful mural in our school entrance hallway.
Drop Off & Pick Up Safety Reminders
Our first priority is always keeping our students safe. Please review the information below regarding school parking lot safety.
Morning Drop Off
If you will be walking your child into school, please feel welcome to park on the south end of the parking lot and walk your child into school. The continuous drop off line is only for students who can independently get out of the car and walk into school on their own. Parents should not park in this lane and leave their vehicles. We also ask that your do not park in the spaces directly up against the building.
Afternoon Pick Up
Cars can park on the south end of the parking lot and parents/guardians will need to walk to the main doors to get their child(ren). Cars can also form a line in the continuous pick up lane as they enter the parking lot and students will be brought to their car.
Teacher Wish List
If you would like to support your child's classroom and teacher, please check out how you can donate to our teacher wish lists. Use the link below:
PTO News
Let's fuel our teachers for the school year! There are two opportunities to help.
Stock the teacher's lounge: An Amazon wish list has been created with our teacher's favorite treats! https://a.co/etllV7E You can either order directly from Amazon and everything will be delivered directly to the school, or purchase them locally and drop them off yourself. Either way is greatly appreciated. The list will be kept up to date so check back throughout the year as well.
Lunchroom Volunteers - Volunteers are always welcome to come and help with lunchroom and recess duties. Lunch times run from 11:40-12:40 with students split between the playground and lunchroom. If you would like to volunteer and have completed all VIRTUS and background check requirements, please don't hesitate to come in and help.
