Team Hill Update
DFES Title One, December 10, 2015
We are mastering long division!
In writing, we have completed our persuasive essays and are working now on adding figurative language to our writing. Today we concentrated on similes and tried to add at least one simile to our writing.
We are nearing the end of our Colonial Times unit. Students began this week researching a colonial trade that interested them and will begin construction of their artisan or craftsman's shop for our replica of colonial Williamsburg next week.
Readers are continuing to make predictions and inferences as we share the reading of "The War with Grandpa". This week we focused on what the main idea is of a chapter and then transferring that to a sentence to write in our reader's notebook. This is a great way to keep up with a longer book that we read over a period of days or weeks.
Hour of Code: December 15th we will be spending time with our tech guru, Heather Reit, and participating in the National Hour of Code (computer programming). We are excited about this opportunity and look forward to creating our own webpages as well!
Winter Party: Dec. 18th from 1:30-2:30 pm. Thank you so much to all who have signed up to send in goodies for our party next Friday! I emailed a sign up genius Sunday and if you didn't receive it, just send me an email and I'll let you know what might still be available to send in.
