The patronage system in Ancient Rome was between a patron (a protector,sponsor, and benefactor of the client.) and a client and if the patron possesses greater wealth,power, and prestige that enabled him to help the client. Some help might be representation in a court of law a loan of money or influencing buisness deals or political campaigns. That is how the patronage system works
