Lori's Library Corner
Can I help you find something? Accessing our library catalog is just a few short clicks away! From Clever, you can find the Follett Destiny (Back Office) tile under Library and Research. Once you click the tile, you will enter into our online catalog where you can search the catalog to your heart’s content! Find a book you’re interested in? Let me know and I’ll check it out to you!
Students can also view different collections that have been created in Destiny, either by genre or topic (i.e. holidays, special days/celebrations, etc.). A more visual way for students or staff to search is through Destiny Discover (also accessed via Clever in the Library & Research section). Scrolling down the page, they can view our newest titles or search by topic (genre) as well as browse through a variety of collections (Hispanic Heritage Month, Halloween or Fall/Autumn Stories for example). Students in the intermediate grades will be spending some time in October learning how to navigate Destiny Discover to check their library accounts, find books they are interested in, place Holds on books, and create a list of favorites.
Are you looking for books to share with your students on a particular unit of study or to help celebrate a special day or season on the calendar? You can access resource lists to help you find what you need! To get there, in Follett Destiny (Back Office) click on the “Catalog” tab at the top and look for “Resource Lists'' in the menu on the left hand side. We have lists already made for topics like the seasons, diverse books, Westward Expansion, 100th day, and many more. Is there a resource list you would like me to add? Just send me an email and I can start building one that everyone can benefit from! Be sure to let me know if you have questions. Happy browsing!

A Message from Safety & Security
As the true fall weather finally ushers in and our evenings and mornings become much cooler. Please remind your staff that ceiling mobiles, balloons and other things hanging from the ceilings are a primary cause for many false alarms throughout our district.
While they look really cool, they do cause false alarms that require staff and at times emergency responders to go and verify the alarm is not a cause of someone entering unlawfully.
When the heat kicks on in the schools, oftentimes between 2 AM and 4 AM, it causes these types of items to move around and often triggers motion sensor alarms. In schools that may have multiple classrooms with this situation it may result in a major law enforcement response in addition to the one NSD on call employee who responds from home.
As you can imagine these false alarms are taking our limited Safety and Security teams and occasionally first responders from other tasks unnecessarily. Thanks for your help.
