Staff Awarded for "Excellence in Service" by the Ohio School Boards Association

Congratulations to the Food Servcices Staff and the Director Sara Newland for receiving the Excellence in Community Service Award from the Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA).

This award is very well deserved for the work they did last spring as they provided nourishing meals to our Elida families when the pandemic first hit. They packed and distributed over 36,000 combined meals to families last spring from mid-March to the end of May 2020.

They were recognized during the OSBA Northwest Region Virtual Fall Conference on Thursday, October 15th.

Thank you for all you do all year long for Elida students & staff!

High School Fall Choir Concert 2020

The High School Fall Choir Concert was held on Wednesday, with two separate but identical concerts to limit audience capacity. The 30 minute concert was also livestreamed on Facebook and fans LOVED the performances! You can watch the show linked below from the Elida Youtube Channel.

Songs included "Happier" and "Take me to the Water" but the finale, from Hamilton, "Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story" included choreography and a tremendous rendition. Watch the concert below.

Students to Receive Monthly Books Thanks to Donations

First grade teacher Angela Siefker has some great news to share! She did some outreach, as teachers occasionally do, asking for individuals to sponsor a student in her classroom to receive a book each month of the school year. (Scholastic offers books each month for just $1 so it costs just $9 to sponsor a child for the entire year.) Angela was surprised by how quickly her class was filled! She then received some very generous donations which made it possible to purchase enough books for EVERY first grader at Elida to receive a book each month for the entire year! All of the first graders are excited about the books and can't wait to get their next books.

Thank you to everyone who has donated to this effort to get books to our Elida students!

Students Make Placemats for Football Team

The students in Mrs. Kroeger and Mrs. Hanefeld’s 2nd grade classes made custom placemats for the varsity football team last week that they used during their team meal on Friday. Each one had personal messages on the back and the boys loved them! Thanks to the great second graders and teachers for such a special momento!
