Language Arts
Guided reading is happening daily. Please check your child's little book bag nightly and have them practice their little books and sight words to build fluency. Please make sure they are pointing to each word as they read, using decoding strategies for unknown words and practicing writing and reading their words on the word ring. It is very important that your child returns their little book bags with all the materials to school each day as we use them during our groups too.
In comprehension, we are working on asking and answering questions about literary and informational texts. You can practice this at home too! When you are reading aloud to your child, stop and have them tell you about what happened at the beginning, middle and end of the story for literally texts and recall facts from non-fiction (informational) texts.

Social Studies & Science
We have taken some time to compare illustrations and photographs of the night sky and created watercolor representations. We focused on the art elements of color, shape and line. All of our friends enjoyed this very much!
We are now moving into planning and conducting investigations that compare the effects of different strengths and or different directions of pushes and pulls on the motion of an object. We have spent some time exploring ramps and their slopes. Try exploring with materials at home to build your own ramp!
