Happy Hanukkah Dec 18th - Dec. 26th, 2022

To celebrate the ancient miracle of the oil burning a candle for eight nights, Jews celebrating Hanukkah light a candleholder called a menorah for eight nights. The menorah holds nine candles—one for each night plus a candle called the shamash used to light the other candles.

The general greeting for Hanukkah in Hebrew is חֲנוּכָּה שַׂמֵחַ. Written in English, that’s Hanukkah sameach or sameyakh, pronounced “HAH-nuh-kuh sah-MEH-ahkh.” That simply translates to “Happy Hanukkah,” so it’s an easy greeting to your Jewish friends.

Calling all students, parents, and teachers! I.S.75 is planning an International Multicultural Celebration at our school on February 16th, 2023 and would appreciate your participation. Our initial planning meeting will take place over ZOOM on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. If you are unable to attend but would still like to participate, we will provide you with the materials at your convenience.
