Dear Hilltop Middle School Parents and Students:

Hello, my name is Tom Rodrigo, and I am the interim principal of Hilltop Middle School. Actually, this is the second time I have had the pleasure to serve as the Hilltop Middle School interim principal. I am a thirty-five year veteran of the Sweetwater District and during those years, I have served as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal, and now as a retired interim principal. Mr. Aparicio, the previous HTM principal, has assumed a new position in the district, and we wish him well in his new assignment.

The district will be conducting Hilltop Middle School principal interviews in order to select the new principal. The district is creating an interview panel comprised of parents, teachers, classified staff, and administration who will be recommending the finalist candidates to the superintendent. There has been no specific dates set at this time for the completion of this process.

During my remaining tenure as the Hilltop Middle School interim principal, my primary goal is to create a safe and secure learning environment to ensure our students continue to receive the highest quality education. I also am focused upon providing a smooth transition for the new principal to come into our school so that we all can work together toward continuing the great Hilltop Middle School traditions.

We would like to take a moment to remind our students about online safety. Everyone needs to keep login information private. Your ID and email address will stay with you through high school, so it is important to protect that information. Change your passwords to something only YOU and your parents know whenever possible.

We also want students to know that photo's and messages posted online never truly go away. Always think before you post and remember to put yourself in someone else's shoes before commenting or sharing. A little empathy goes a long way.

There are many students who have purchased a ticket, but have NOT consented to COVID testing. Your parents MUST consent to testing by Monday evening if you are going to test on Tuesday at school.
