Lunch Forms
Right now there are at least 70 students who qualified last year for free or reduced lunch who haven not filled out the form and there are others who qualify this year who haven't filled out the form. Even if your child isn't going to eat at the cafeteria, but you are eligible for free and reduced lunch, please fill out the form. If we don't hit the numbers we need this means we will lose anywhere from $10,000-$100,000+ of funding for the school. This is what is paying for academic support, clubs, counseling, and other important resources.
Flyers From The Community
TIDE Academy (Technology, Innovation, Design and Engineering)
We invite you to learn about Sequoia Union High School District's new school, T.I.D.E (Technology, Innovation, Design, Engineering) Academy. This is the first public high school, within the Peninsula, to focus on training students to be the future of Silicon Valley. Teachers at T.I.D.E Academy will develop the critical skills and aspirations of each student through the intimate attention of a small school setting. All curriculum will be STEAM (Science, Tech, Engineering, Art, and Math) with project-based learning as a focal point. T.I.D.E Academy is projected to open in August 2019 and will start with the founding class of 100 ninth graders. If you would like more information about this new school, please join us at the Kennedy High School Fair on October 4, 2018 from 6-7 pm.
WHY: TIDE was established to provide students in SUHSD an opportunity to learn in a small and personalized learning environment with a focus on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) curriculum, that is both interdisciplinary and project-based. TIDE was set in Menlo Park to help offset the enrollment of Menlo-Atherton High School and other oversubscribed high schools in the district.
WHAT: TIDE is designed to afford students a smaller learning environment where the curriculum is focused on integrating Career Technical Education (CTE) with Humanities and the Arts. To this end, TIDE will offer a Product Innovation and Design Pathway and a Computer Science Pathway. Students will elect which pathway they will take in 10th grade and then take those dual-enrolled college elective courses. All students will have the option starting in Junior year to take dual-enrolled community college classes in English, History, and Science. Math courses will be assigned based on their previous courses. Every student will take 4 years of Math, with the option of community college courses junior and senior year. Students will study an interdisciplinary curriculum and show understanding through hands-on projects and students will also complete social action projects. Long-term, students will have industry mentors and industry internships prior to graduation. To promote well-rounded individuals, TIDE students will participate in our Social-Emotional Learning Curriculum grades 9-11 and a senior seminar during 12th grade. See our website for additional FAQ.
WHEN: TIDE is set to open August 2019, with approx. 100 9th graders. A grade level will be added each year.
WHERE: Located at 150 Jefferson Dr. Menlo Park
WHO: Open to all SUSHD students, with priority given to students who live in Menlo Atherton High School boundaries (via lottery process).
Timeline: The Fall and early Spring is dedicated to outreach and recruitment. The priority window for enrollment for all SUHSD schools is November 1, 2018 and concludes February 1, 2019.
Come Check Out Woodside High School Robotics!
Woodside Wildhats are hosting WRRF CalGames!
October 5th (5pm-8pm) and
Saturday, October 6th (8 am – 6 pm)
in the New Gym
Come cheer on the Wildhats and 35 other high school teams of student-designed and -built robots as they Power Up.
These powerhouses are under 120 lbs and can toss power cubes on the scale, tip switches, and partner-climb. They even run on their own (sometimes). It’s exciting “cooperation” with sets of 3 teams working together through changing alliances! Robots get stuck, they tip over, they run in circles and even into each other.
Find any Wildhat (the ones in orange…) and get a tour of the “pits” and a team button. Wear orange to support WHS’s team and look for the Hat, for Carlmont’s Shark and other mascots. Learn about the FIRST STEAM program. You can see the team “brag books”, banners, posters and ask questions about building, programming and driving robots.
Team 100
Woodside is the home of Team 100 Wildhats: FIRST Robotics team. FIRST Robotics provides a fascinating real-world engineering experience for students and opens the door to education and careers in science, technology, and engineering. Students learn mechanics, electronics, fabrication, teamwork, animation, programming, website design, and recovering from failures. All high school students are welcome. We meet on Thursday evenings in room H-8 at 7:00 p.m. and have work sessions on Saturdays 9am.-3pm in our J-wing shop.
For more information about the robotics clubs, contact Woodside faculty advisors, Arlene Kolber, akolber@seq.org and David Shannon, dshannon@seq.org or check the team's website www.team100.org.
