Read Across America Day
The Sycamore elementary administrative team is excited to share with you a collaboration on one of our favorite topics - reading! We love books and the different places they can take their readers. We also love how diverse books can help us learn more about ourselves and others, as well as the world around us. We partnered up after one of our favorite holidays - Read Across America Day on March 2 - to select and read with you some of our favorite new books brought to our Sycamore classroom libraries this past summer by the wonderful group Diverse Books for Sycamore. We hope that you enjoy hearing the books we have selected to share!

PTO Meeting – Thursday, 4/8 at 1:00
Do you have a 4th grader? If so, you won’t want to miss this PTO meeting.
Principal Tudor and his team will join us to share important information regarding the transition to EH Greene.
The information on Greene is interesting for everyone (all our children will eventually be there). Additionally, we will be presenting the nominees for next year’s PTO Board and taking care of other PTO business.
Please use the following zoom link to join this virtual PTO meeting.

Openings for a few good volunteer leaders for 2021-22 PTO
While we don’t know what next school year is going to look like, we have our fingers crossed that we will be able to do most of the PTO programs that we have done in the past.
Therefore the PTO is in the process of filling committee chairperson positions for the 2021-22 school year. If you are interested in serving as a committee chair, please contact Jeff Stechschulte at mdpto@sycamoreschools.org.
Staff Lounge Makeover!!!
The PTO would like to recognize and thank the following community partners for their generous assistance with our Staff Lounge makeover:
Haven Designs
Maverick Office Solutions
Formica Corporation
Supply Post Business Products
TNT Papercraft, Inc.
Sycamore District Facilities Team
A sincere thank you to Kim Rospond for all her time and effort with this project! Thank you to the Brauch family for pitching in. What an amazing transformation!
Box Tops
Join me in earning cash for our school by using the Box Tops app. It’s an easy way to make a difference. All you have to do is buy Box Tops participating products (like Cheerios!) and scan your grocery receipt. Box Tops are worth $.10 each and they add up fast! Twice a year, our school receives a check to help pay for whatever we need - equipment, supplies, or experiences the kids love! Click here to watch a short video on how to scan your receipt for credit and submit the earnings to Maple Dale.
You can earn extra Box Tops if you download the app and scan a receipt between now and the end of May. Download the Box Tops for Education using this QR code.
Scanning receipts is super easy. If you are someone who has become a BOPIS (Buy Online Pick Up In-Store) shopper in the last year, you can still submit your digital receipt for credit. If you have a digital receipt from shopping that contains participating products, forward your email receipt to receipts@boxtops4education.com. I have submitted a few recently and our school was credited the amount in less than 24 hours.

Bell Ringers needed!
We need young children to serve as our honorary bell ringers to open our Montgomery Farmers' Market every Saturday morning. So would you please post the following in your school's weekly or monthly newsletter to your school's parents:
The Montgomery Farmers’ Market needs you and your children (or grandchildren) to officially ring in and open the 9am Market opening each Saturday morning, beginning May 1st to November 20th. Parents and friends can nominate and register deserving children for this highly coveted responsibility by contacting Jeff Gartner at montfarmersmkt@gmail.com.
Just let us know which Saturday is best for your family and we'll get back to you. In your email, please also include your name, your child(ren)'s name, your email address, and your cell phone number (so we can send you a day-before reminder text).
Thank you … the Montgomery Farmers' Market board
Please let me know if you have any questions or need further information.
Thanks, Jeff Gartner, Montgomery Farmers' Market Board member
