Math
Diagrams like bar models are important visual tools that can be used to understand and solve word problems. Our third graders were introduced to an understanding of sum and difference using part-whole and comparison bar models last week. These are important skills to develop as our students attempt to translate word problems into number sentence.
This week, students continue to practice using bar models as a strategy for solving word problems involving addition and subtraction to solve real world problems.

Welcome to Theme 4: How Does Electricity Work?

Our word study will continue with long vowel sounds made up of the letters: ai, ay, ea, ee
Examples: aim, train, afraid, away, stay, eagle, easy, sea, each, free, three.
It is IMPERATIVE to distinguish the differences between imperative and EXCLAMATORY sentences. We want our students will be the best writers they can be! This week they will learn how.

Saludos cordiales,
María José de Arriaga
