Change to the District's School Calendar
At the January 25th School Board meeting, the Board approved the asynchronous day waiver. This waiver was submitted and approved by TEA. We have converted two instructional days in our calendar (March 5th and April 30th) to district-wide asynchronous days for our students with this waiver. An asynchronous learning environment is a learning environment that does not require participants, teachers, and students to be online at the same time. Asynchronous learning will occur at a time and place of the student’s choosing. This change aims to provide additional planning and collaboration time for our teachers to help enhance all students’ success. Teachers will develop learning experiences/activities for students to complete on these two days. Principals will communicate campus-specific information and expectations before the scheduled asynchronous days. We hope this advanced notice of the calendar change will help make your scheduling needs easier. Your support with these two additional days of planning will help our teachers continue the high expectation of learning in our new environments of in-person and remote learning. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility as we work together in these challenging times.

Remote Learners Interim Assessment- 3rd & 4th Grades Only
Dear RSES Families,
This Spring our 3rd and 4th-grade students will now be taking the Spring Interim assessment.
These assessments are vital for our students as they progress. It is an essential practice that gives the students a feel for the STAAR assessments that are a few months away. It also provides crucial data for our teachers to observe and track as they work diligently to grow our students. To be noted, the state of Texas is requiring all students to take the STAAR assessments in person this year for equitable test-taking purposes. With this being said, we are requiring all students to participate, including our remote students. This is with direct guidance from the state on the administration for the 2021 STAAR test.
See the attached flyer below for more information and testing dates for our 3rd and 4th graders.
Please click the link Interim Assessment RSVP and let us know if your child will be on campus for their testing dates. The deadline to fill out this form is Friday, February 12th.

February Character Trait- Kindness
A Little Kindness Goes a Long Way
Kindness is the perfect character value for February. It goes hand-in-hand with Valentine’s Day and our No Place for Hate school climate. I have heard numerous stories from our students about ways they and their families show kindness to others, and it warms my heart. Thank you for setting examples of kindness for your kiddos! And as always, thank you for your support!
