In Ms. Verbic’s spare time, she loves to spend time with her two children, stay active, and be near the water. She is looking forward to meeting the LES community and to having an outstanding school year!

Meal Benefit Application- All Families Please Complete!
School Meal Benefit Forms: School Year Meal Benefit forms for SY 2022-2023 are now available online! Easily fill out your new meal benefit form by visiting https://www.myschoolapps.com/Application on the www.smcps.org website. Families can request more information by contacting SMCPS' Food and Nutrition Services Office at 301.475.4256, Option 5, or via email at foodservice@smcps.org.

Kindergarten Registration is Open!- Please share!
Parents of children who will be five years old by September 1, 2022, can now register their child at Leonardtown Elementary School (physical address in LES district) daily Monday-Thursday 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
Parent(s)/Legal Guardian(s) may go to the school assigned to their legal address to complete the registration paperwork. Children are not required to be present for registration. Required documentation includes evidence of birth, proof of residency, a copy of the child’s immunization record, and any court papers regarding custody of the minor child. Parent(s)/Legal Guardian(s) must also bring photo identification when registering their child.
Documentation which indicates the current physical address of the child will be accepted as proof of residence. Proof of residence will include, but is not limited to, one of the following:
Mortgage/deed/rental agreement with 911 address assignment;
Current utility bill with parent/legal guardian name, 911 address of residence, and service address (post office box is not acceptable, wireless phone bills are not acceptable); and,
Patuxent River Naval Base housing form NOW-NATC-1110-1/15, Assignment to Public Quarters, which identifies bona fide residence in St. Mary's County.
Parent(s)/Legal Guardian(s) not intending to register an appropriately aged child for kindergarten must obtain a waiver from the St. Mary's County Public Schools Department of Student Services. It is not necessary for children enrolled in Head Start or Pre-Kindergarten in the public schools to register again.

Summer Reading and LES Apple Tree Book Club Logs
Summer reading at the St. Mary's County library is ongoing through August 13, 2022. Participants will track their activities through the Beanstack app/website, and every 5 activities logged completed will earn them one entry into the prize drawing of their choice. Prizes include gift cards to local restaurants and other fun places like movie theaters and comic book stores! In addition to a drawing entry, completion of the first five activities will also earn them their very own, glow-in-the-dark Summer Reading t-shirt!
All three branches will have awesome programs throughout the summer for people of all ages—including weekly Crafternoons and “LEGO Block Parties” where kids can come build their own LEGO creations with the library’s stash of bricks. Do not forget to log your reading over the summer and submit your Apple Tree Book Log to your teacher at the beginning of the school year. All books read will go toward being a LES Gold Apple Reader! Download and print an Apple Tree Book Log below.

Families last name A-L: 1:15 p.m.-2:15 p.m.
Families last name M-Z: 2:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m.
**If you are a family with children that have different last names, please use the last name of your oldest child to determine the time you should attend Open House. You may visit the classes of all your children at that identified time. Thank you.
Stay tuned for a date and time to access Home Access Center (HAC) to learn your classroom assignment for 2022-2023. Thank you.
