-words of Wisdom(ish) from the Mentor

Keep Building

As the year progress and each of you continue to grow and develop, think of the LEGOS in the background. Each day you are putting another block on the stack toward creating a beautiful masterpiece.

Every time you work with kids and make decisions you are putting the blocks together. Stay positive and focused on your students learning..AND remember SPRING BREAK is close!

No major updates or changes to report. Keep working to get your observations and mentoring sessions scheduled. Especially if you will be coaching a Spring sport. My schedule is listed out to May so schedule all of your sessions if you want to..

ETM's - don't neglect them

There are three types of ETMs and numerous titles from which to choose. ETMs can be completed online or in face-to-face sessions.

As a note..unless currently scheduled, there will be no more PEER observation ETM. The funding availability has dried up.

A full listing of the ETMs available can be found at http://www.bluevalleyk12.org/etm.

Assessment Tools

One of the areas Blue Valley continues to be committed to is formative assessment. You all know that formative assessment can happen in MANY different ways. One option is short quizzes, yet grading can be a challenge. Below I have linked two quick and easy phone-based assessment tools. I hope as you continue your journey you will be able to find more efficient and effective ways to assess your students. The two tools below may help in that quest.

What to know about the Mentor

I work as part of the Education Support Services Team which some may have no idea what we do. The team is made up of content leaders and technology specialists that support the teachers of the district. Each member of the team has a specific role they fill as for curriculum development and advancement. The technology side works with advancing and progressing the tech resources and training in the district. Each member of the team are former teachers, most from within Blue Valley.

I highly encourage you to reach out to these support staff as you continue your journey. They are experts and huge resources for your classroom and professional growth.
