What do you want to be when you grow up?
Regardless of what grade you're in, it's never too early to start exploring careers. Students will be completing Educational Development Plans (EDPs) soon in Career Cruising during English classes. This is a requirement for students grade 7 - 12 each year and is also a requirement for OSTC consideration. Another option for exploring careers is with Occupational Outlook Handbook.
It's helpful to at least have an idea of what you want to study so you can make sure the college you plan on attending offers that major. There is also a place in Career Cruising that allows you to search colleges based on the career you want. When you're looking at a Career, click on the "Education" tab on the left > scroll down to choose a major/career that most applies to you > then all colleges in Michigan (or out of state) that offer that major will appear.

Common Application - Terms
Early Action
Early Action (EA) is an application process by which you apply and receive a decision much earlier than the Regular Decision notification date. However, unlike Early Decision (ED), Early Action is "non-binding." In other words, if accepted by a college under the Early Action plan, you have no obligation to enroll and will have until May 1st to consider the offer and confirm enrollment.
Early Decision
Early Decision (ED) is an application process by which you commit to enrolling to a certain college if you're admitted. You might hear people refer to Early Decision as a "binding" plan. This means that you can apply to other colleges but only one can be marked as your Early Decision college. If admitted to your Early Decision college, you must withdraw your applications from all other colleges.
