CELC News & Updates
CELC Families,
We had a wonderful week of laughter and learning. The staff and students made the best of the extremely hot days. Students had very limited time for outdoor play. Because of "wacky" heat schedules, our students only practiced a "normal" lunch and recess schedule for two days. The staff and students are working on improving efficiency with transitions from lunch to recess.
Our Back to School Night was well attended. We were thrilled to see so many faces and engage in conversations, connect, and share more about our programs. Thank you to everyone who took the time to come out!
We are thrilled to announce that we were able to hold our first PTA Association meeting at Back to School Night. Our 2023-24 School Board was voted in and will begin working in the coming weeks. They will keep you posted on meeting dates and ways to volunteer and support PTA.
Here are a few updates to help keep you informed
:
Don't forget that school is closed on Monday, September 4th in observance of Labor Day.
ALL AUSD parents- please take the time to fill out the free/reduced application at https://www.alpineschools.net/o/ausd/page/free-and-reduced-meal-program to help our schools continue to receive Title I funding to support our students. Click on the SchoolCafe button to fill out the application. Please reach out if you have any questions.
All students have access to free breakfast and lunch this school year regardless of the application status, however, it is still vital to fill the application out for other funding purposes.
- Breakfast is available at the cafeteria at 8:35 a.m. daily. The kitchen closes at 8:55 a.m.
- Please send your student to school each day with a backpack, refillable water bottle, a healthy snack, and a lunch (unless they are getting a cafeteria lunch).
- Please include a change of clothes in a ziplock bag in their backpack. Potty accidents tend to happen early in the year. We have clothes on hand but having their own seems to make them feel more comfortable.
Picture Day is September 7th. See flyer below for more information.
For the safety and security of students and staff, gates are locked during school hours.
- Please use the front gate for entering and exiting the campus. the side gates are for employees only and must remain closed.
Although we have water filling stations, we like to have water bottles on hand for students that forget to bring a refillable bottle. Donations of water are always appreciated. You can drop them off in the office.
Please report any absences to your child's teacher and the office. Please let the office know the reason that your child is out and any symptoms if they are sick. Email Mary Barkely, our amazing Clerk or call the office at 619-659-8250.
Before and after school care is available. Please see the flyer below or contact Aimee Hatfield, AUSD's ESS Coordinator, at ahatfield@alpineschools.net if you have any questions.
For transportation questions, please visit AUSD's website at https://www.alpineschools.net/page/transportation
