Welcome to the STEM Academy Newsletter for this year!
Students at Essex High School are back in the building full time and we are looking forward to another year of STEM learning! This newsletter goes out once a week to STEM students and their parents, along with our community partners. If you would like me to remove you from the mailing list, please reply and it will be taken care of. If you decide to keep receiving this, you will hear about what is going on in the STEM Academy along with opportunities that are available for our students.

STEM Trivia Contest
Our first all-academy activity was a STEM trivia contest on Fri, Sep 3. A great time was had by all, congratulations to our winners:
1st place - Walogorsky's advisory

Teen Science Cafes are Back - Join us on September 28!!
We are going to kick off the year with a virtual cafe on Tuesday, September 28 from 5:00-6:00 pm. Join us to learn about "Develecology: The Science of How Our Ecosystem Shapes Our Development" from Lawrence G. Shelton, an Associate Professor in the Human Development and Family Studies program at the University of Vermont.
Learn more and register no later than 9/28 @ 12 noon in order to get the Zoom link needed to join the cafe. Click here to register.
Teen Science Cafés are informal, interactive programs that promote exploration, curiosity, and life-long learning about current and cutting-edge ideas in science and technology. Teens engage in lively discussion and hands-on learning with experts. The cafes are free and organized by teens for teens.
Explore new frontiers of digital creativity at SCAD AnimationFest - Sept. 23-25
SCAD AnimationFest is streaming live Sept. 23-25 with special screenings, panels with titans of animation, insightful presentations, and a few surprises along the way. Join your fellow fans and explore the best in animation, digital media, and visual effects with pros from Nickelodeon, Pixar, Bento Box, Paramount Plus, ASIFA-South, and more.
